Shankar’s International Dolls Museum

The International Dolls Museum is the largest collection of dolls in Delhi. It was set up by K. Shankar Pillai, a political cartoonist. The collections of dolls are classified into two parts. One part consists of the dolls collected from European countries such as UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand and the other section consists of dolls collected from other Asian countries, Middle East, Africa and India. Though meant for kids, this museum is interesting even for elders as it showcases cultures of so many countries and Indian states.

The museum could be easily reached by Metro as well. One has to get down at ITO (violet line) and take the exit from gate no. 4.
Timings: The museum is open from 10 AM – 6 PM without any lunch break. The ticket counter closes at 5.30 PM. It remains closed on Monday and other gazetted holidays.

Air Force Museum

The Museum reflects the very best of what the Indian Air Force has stood for in War and Peace. The hanger houses 15 different types of military aircraft that have formed the backbone of Air Force since its inception. The kids will be awed by the fighter planes and rockets displayed outside. It’s quite an amazing experience and you should definitely make a trip there this summer.

National Rail Museum

The National Rail Museum is spread over an area of 10 acres of land. It consists of an outdoor gallery as well as an indoor gallery. The Museum was renovated in 2014 and the indoor gallery is full of exhibits which trace the how the transport system came into being starting with bullock carts to the modern day rail system. They have a lot of information and some interactive exhibits as well. The main attraction at the Railway Museum is the Fairy Queen; it is one of the world’s best-preserved steam engines which was built in 1855. The highlight of your excursion will probably be a ride around the museum grounds in the toy train. The kids really love that and so do the adults.

National Science Centre Museum

Housed on 8 floors, this museum has working science exhibition as well as exhibits. It has something for all age groups such as Heritage & Dinosaur gallery, Human Biology gallery, Fun Science Library etc. There are also a number of hands-on displays explaining the laws of physics. The museum has the first fun-packed multimedia centre in the country and it’s called Cyberlkool. You can easily spend the whole day going through this children’s paradise.

National Philatelic Museum
